Dajin Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. is advancing its strategic expansion into offshore wind installation to underpin Europe’s offshore wind development targets. As part of this strategic shift, Dajin plans to deliver a one-stop “Manufacturing + Transportation + Marshaling + Installation Vessel” integrated solution to the European offshore wind industry, marking a key milestone in its transformation from a core equipment manufacturer to a full solution provider.
The rapid evolution of offshore wind technology, featuring larger turbines and heavier foundations, has significantly increased demand for higher crane capacity and expanded deck space. Conventional installation vessels are increasingly unable to meet these requirements and are gradually becoming obsolete. Meanwhile, many newly built vessels remain only partially suitable for next-generation foundations, which demand installation capabilities exceeding 3,500 tonnes. This challenge is further intensified by the expected surge in project installations across Europe from 2030 and beyond.
Against this backdrop, Dajin is evaluating the development of its own fleet of advanced installation vessels. The company is conducting in-depth technical and commercial analysis to define industry-required functionalities, optimal vessel types, and strategic partnerships, with the goal of developing highly competitive solutions to alleviate the above supply chain bottlenecks.
Dajin continues to strengthen dialogue and collaboration with European offshore wind developers and EPCI companies, who widely identify Transport & Installation (T&I) as a critical supply chain constraint to achieving Europe’s offshore wind ambitions. In this context, recently, Dajin has already signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with One of the leading European Offshore Wind Farm owner-operator to explore cooperation on installation vessel solutions.
The parties have agreed to jointly address industry challenges, align on vessel specifications, construction timelines, and installation operating models, in order to meet the installation requirements of the developer’s offshore windfarm projects. And work together to unlock efficient and reliable installation capacity for future European offshore wind projects.
